Sample excerpt

We hope to publish Rick Brannan’s The Acts of Pilate and the Descent of Christ to Hades: A Greek Reader in August, 2018. It will be the second volume released in the Appian Way Greek Readers series. It is projected to be a 155 page volume with a low price of $9.95.

Like the inaugural volume in the Appian Way Greek Readers series, the Acts of Pilate Greek reader will have the following features:

  • Greek Text: The Greek text of Tischendorf’s Acts of Pilate A and the Greek text of Tischendorf’s The Descent of Christ to Hades.
  • Reading Notes: Every word that occurs 20x or fewer in the Greek New Testament is noted with the form in the text, the lemma or dictionary form of the word, the part of speech, the number of NT instances, and a short gloss.
  • Section Heads: Section headings in English are inserted in both the Greek text and the English translation.
  • Intertextual Notes: Most quotations and obvious allusions have notes (in the Greek text) referring the reader to the related biblical text.
  • English Text: A lightly revised and modernized translation of these documents from Schaff’s Ante-Nicene Fathers volume 8 is also included.
  • Greek-English Glossary: A glossary of all footnoted terms is provided with glosses and all instances of the word in the Acts of Pilate and the Descent of Christ to Hades noted.

The book is almost ready! We’re reviewing the text one last time and working on the cover design. When those tasks are complete, then the book will be finalized and made available on Amazon.

Please help spread the word. We hope these readers help people focused on the Greek New Testament to expand their ability with the text and become more capable with the language.

Also, as with every Appian Way Press book, all proceeds from book sales go straight to the Brannan Adoption fund to cover costs incurred during the adoption of their third child in 2017. Adoption is expensive, and payment can be stretched out for years. Every little bit, even the small royalty from Amazon from these books, helps. Thanks for your support!
